Help a Dedicated Teacher Get Back on the Road

Happy new year everyone! I am a preschool teacher who commutes 40 minutes to work and back 6 days a week, many days having split shifts. A few days before Christmas, my head gasket broke. It’s almost $4000 to fix, money I simply do not have. I have also been getting advice and opinions from many mechanics all who recommend I do not fix the car but get a new one.
I am deeply grieving that I would have to find a new job closer to where I recently moved in September while I take busses/ bike/ walk and Lyft myself around for the next year or so. I had to move because my grandmother was my landlord and she passed away. My father took over and, being greedy, he immediately attempted to QUADRUPLE my rent with three weeks notice, and was threatening to evict me if I couldn’t cough it up. Needless to say, I don’t have a great relationship with him.
Again, I am a preschool teacher who has just had some really awful luck lately. I’m single and family is being very emotionally supportive and helping a lot with rides but I am at an age I completely understand they can’t just bail me out. This isn’t something I ever thought I would do but I need to put my pride aside. I need help. Thank you and all my positivity extends out to you all! I am endlessly grateful for this life and will remain optimistic!
