Support for Mitch Simpson

Mitch Simpson - Husband, Father, Friend! This account was established as a means to offer financial support for Mitch Simpson due to a recent stroke. 

On Thursday, Feb. 21 Mitch began complaining that he wasn't feeling good.  He was nauseous, sweating and having neck and back pain.  Thinking it was a bad case of the flu, he went to urgent care, but tested negative the for flu.  

What happened...

By Tuesday, Feb. 22, Mitch called his doctor complaining of pain and dizziness, continued terrible headache and could barely walk.  His doctor told him to to go to the emergency room immediately.  After going to the ER at a nearby hospital it was determined that he may have had a stroke, they transferred him to the main hospital downtown where he was admitted to the Neurological ICU.  They performed a CT scan, Angiogram and ultrasound.  

What we know...

Since then, Mitch has been in ICU.  The type of stroke he had is called a Subarachnoid Hemorrhage https://mayfieldclinic.com/pe-sah.htm which is a life-threatening type of stroke caused by bleeding into the space surrounding the brain.  It can be caused by a ruptured aneurysm among other things.  The most dangerous complication of a subarachnoid hemorrhage is cerebral vasospasm. This is when the blood vessel near an aneurysm goes into spasm, making a bleed worse.  Mitch is still suffering from vasospasms which keep him from leaving the ICU.  He could be in the hospital upwards to 2 more weeks to make sure the vasospasms have stopped.  Devastating news to someone who is self-employed.

How you can help...

The last day Mitch worked was Feb. 21.  He is self-employed and therefore doesn't get paid if he doesn't work.  After he leaves the hospital, he is also going to have to recover at home.  The is causing Mitch severe stress while his is still in the hospital because he is not able to pay his normal monthly bills, not to mention all of the medical bills that will be arriving soon.   He is already falling behind financially. 

Mitch needs to be able to focus on getting well so that he can leave the hospital, get well and get back to work.

You may ask why I am doing this.  Mitch has been there for me through some of my happiest times and in my darkest times (two times having breast cancer and when my sister passed away from cancer) and we share our beautiful daughter together.  We are very good friends.  I just want to be able to help him in some small way.
