Hi, my name is Robyn and I am Bev's (Helmer) daughter, I have the honor of being her caretaker, secretary, driver and anything else she needs or wants.
This beautiful woman graduated in 1966, from Aurora-Hoyt Lakes High School, in Northern Minnesota. She is cancer patient in the fight of her life. On May 28,2015 Mom was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast cancer, with a tumor size of 9cmx7cm. On June 11th, she was diagnosed with Auxillary Lymph Node cancer (which means it was also in the lymph nodes under her arm). She went through 20 weeks of chemo and maintained a possitive attitude, one that doctors, nurses and other staff complimented her on weekly. On August 1st, 2015, our house was driven through by a drunk driver, taking our Mom's bedroom. The firefighters' said that if she would have been in her bedroom at the time, it would have killed her instantly. We litterally had to throw everything from her room away, clothing, personal items, glasses, dentures....everything! We believe God stepped in and prevented this from happening. For the next four months, while the house was being repaired, we lived in a hotel room. Mom still maintianed her incredible attitude. She finished chemo on November 11th. We were able to move back home on December 1st, 2015, met with Mom's surgeon on Dec. 3rd and scheduled her masectomy for Dec. 9th, as the tumor had shrunk to less than 3cm. When Mom's surgeon came to talk to me, he said he was amazed, he couldn't feel the lymph nodes that were diagnosed and that the tumor was smaller than he thought, back on the 3rd. He did take a chain of 20 lymph nodes out and sent ten to be tested. The following week we met with Mom's Oncologist, he gave us the news that one of her lymph nodes tested possitive and as a preventative measure she was going to have to go through radiation, once she was healed from surgery. She started radiation On January 18th,2016. This took place every day, Monday-Friday, in a town that was an hour away. Her last radiation treatment was on March 1st. She was healing well from the burns, again, never complaining and keeping a possitive attitude. On March 24th, she woke up in excrutiating pain and asked me to take her to either the hospital or clinic. The clinic was able to get her in. She was thinking she had developed gallstones, as was the doctor who saw her. Lab work and an ultra sound were done. The next morning the clinic called and said a CT was needed. Later that afternoon I answered the phone and instantly recognized Mom's Oncologist's voice. He said it looked like the cancer has moved to her liver and a biopsy is needed. The biopsy took place on April 6th, the results would be given to us on April 12th. As I write this, tomorrow is April 12th and I already know in my heart that we will be starting chemo and radiation again. The doctor had already warned me of this.
The reason I have started this page is simple. I am not one to ever ask for help, the people who know me will attest to this, but I need help. During Mom's radiation I chose to put gas in the truck to get her to radiation, rather than make the house payment and other bills. The bills that her medicare doesn't cover are piling up and we were served with papers that if the house payments aren't taken care of we will be in the start of forclosure as of the 27th of this month. This site asked for an amount of money that I would like to raise, I didn't know what to put there, because asking for help is new and hard for me. Mom doesn't know I am putting up this site, but she will soon find out. I don't know if people doubt other people's word on a site like this, but everything I have written can be verified.
I thank you deeply, from the bottom of my heart, just for stopping by and reading my story, of the bravest woman I have ever know!
