HI, my name is Laura and I am doing the most un-natural thing for me , and that is asking for help. With a heavy heart, I am reaching out in a time of sadness, shock and worry.
7 days ago my brother-in law suffered a major stroke. With complete occlusion of his carotid artery, he has suffered severe brain damage with over a 1/3 of his brain dying.
This sudden crisis has left our family in shock and in complete emotional turmoil. He is currently in Sir Charles Gardiner hospital fighting to recover.
As many of you may not know, there is a criteria for financial assistance from the hospital with accommodation, parking and other expenses for distance travelling family members, we have been told that he does not meet that criteria and therefore we cannot recieve any financial support to help his family be by his side.
Parking alone is placing a huge financial burden. Again refused for any parking assistance.
While overwhelmed with the reality of the mounting expenses already, my sister and their daughter are also battling the reality of his life threatening condition.
Shayne has always been such a huge support to many, and now he needs our support in this critical time. He’s normally very outgoing, chatty, optimistic and loved to spend time with his friends, family and his dog. He is a barrel of laughs and a joker at heart. He is going to require long term rehabilitation, and full time home care when he is released from hospital.
While we as a family are contributing all we can to help, with my sister unable to continue work for the unknown future, any help or donations would be greatly appreciated.
Anyone that knows me personally knows that I do not ask for help and I know times are tough for everyone so I will just say THANKYOU , your kindness and support during this challenging time means more than words can express.
