Support Alfredo Barte’s Battle With Cancer

This fundraiser is to support my Uncle Alfredo Barte and his family from Philippines with expenses and medical costs following his major surgery (gastrectomy) and cancer diagnosis.

On June 10th, Alfredo underwent major surgery at Chong Hua Hospital, Cebu City to remove a malignant tumor in his gastric-esophageal region, resulting in the complete removal of his stomach and parts of his liver. A week after his surgery, it was confirmed that his gastric cancer has progressed to stage 3, and that the cancer cells that have afflicted him is of the most aggressive type. He today remains under close medical supervision in the hospital and is expected to undergo chemotherapy as soon as his health permits.

It is even more heartbreaking that a day before his surgery, his wife, Nieves M. Barte, was rushed to the hospital emergency room and was later admitted due to complications caused by a sepsis related to urinary tract infection (UTI), diabetes, and neuropathy, possibly triggered by the extreme stress and anxiety caused by her husband’s hospitalization. She has now been discharged from the hospital but is still bedridden due to extreme neuropathic pain affecting her lower leg and foot.

These two medical emergencies have placed their family in an extremely difficult financial and emotional situation. Hence, with deep humility, we are seeking financial donations to help Alfredo and his family as they face this deeply troubling situation.

All donations made here will go directly to Alfredo’s hospital bills and his needs during this time. Anything that you are able to contribute would be a tremendous relief to him and his family especially to their two children Malou Barte-Cacas and Kyle Alfred Barte.
