In need of Kidney Transplant
Donation protected
My journey started in 2006 when I was diagnosed with Primary Focal Segmental Glomerular Sclerosis. I will never forget the words of the Nephrologist at that time who told me that there was only a few treatments for this autoimmune disease, then looked at me and said "when your kidneys start to fail, it will be quick". I went through all the possible treatments with partial remission obtained. I remained in transmission for a long time with periods of having to go back for treatments. In the fall of 2021, my filtration rate fell to transplant level. I was referred to University of Minnesota Fairview for evaluation for transplant without having to go on dialysis. I spent a couple of days out there where all the testing for matching was completed. It was onto to testing my family members which is still ongoing. Over the last few months, my filtration rate dropped further and my Creatinine has increased. The overwhelming exhaustion is beyond anything I can compare it to. The nausea, loss of appetite over the last month has been increasing, as well as fluid retention. I have to keep going, there is no other choice. I will have to be on the ready should I need to stay there when I travel there in July. Should I get lucky enough to transplant, I will have to stay there for almost a month for observation and labs. I am asking for assistance for medical bills, travel(with gas at unreasonable prices), accomodations, and meals. Anything will help! Have you thought of becoming an organ donor? It truly is a special gift to those of us in need. I thank you for taking the time read my story.
