Robert John Hunter passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 1, 2021 at the age of 79. Affectionately called Bob, he was a long-time member, elder, and Sunday School Teacher at Lincoln United Church and later at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. He served the Cambridge Stamp Club as their President for over 15 years. Bob was furthermore a long-time member of the Cambridge Pigeon Club, which culminated in a Bronze Medal win at the Calgary 1988 Winter Olympics. He enjoyed his job as a Mailman at the Cambridge Post Office for 17 years from 1973 – 1990. Bob will be deeply missed by his beloved wife Jane Hunter. They were married for 51 years. He will also be lovingly remembered by his sons Timothy Hunter (Estela) and Paul Hunter (Ayana), his four grandsons Oliver, Sebastian, Max, and Kota Curtis, his extended Westside Church Family, and the Guatemalan communities of Las Escobas where Bob made many mission trips during the 1990’s and early 2000’s. Bob was predeceased by his parents William Robert Hunter and Doris Louisa Hunter, and his two brothers. A Visitation will be held at T. Little Funeral Home (223 Main Street, Cambridge) on Friday, September 10th from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm. All guests must wear a mask and follow Covid-19 protocols. A Funeral Service will be held on the same day at 1:00 pm at Westside Presbyterian Church (130 Victoria Ave, Cambridge). Cremation will follow, and Bob’s ashes will be interred at the Cedar Creek Cemetery at a later date. As expressions of sympathy, donations to help cover the funeral costs would be appreciated.
