MEDICAL FUNDRAISING HELP
If you have been following my posts, you will know that I was rushed into hospital in June with an aortic aneurysm. I was also diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer.
Aortic Aneurysm
A thoracic aortic aneurysm happens in the chest. An abdominal aortic aneurysm, which is more common, occurs below the chest.
What is an aortic aneurysm?
An aortic aneurysm is a balloon-like bulge in the aorta, the large artery that carries blood from the heart through the chest and torso.
Aortic aneurysms can dissect or rupture:
The force of blood pumping can split the artery wall's layers, allowing blood to leak in between them. This process is called a dissection.
The aneurysm can burst completely, causing bleeding inside the body. This is called a rupture.
Dissections and ruptures are the cause of most deaths from aortic aneurysms.
Fortunately, mine was found before it ruptured. I had to spend 12 days in the hospital for an operation to replace my aorta from under my heart down to my legs. This was a very costly operation. I was quoted c26,000.
The doctors also discovered that I have level 4 prostate cancer during the diagnostic process.
What Is Stage 4 Prostate Cancer?
The fourth stage of prostate cancer defines a tumor that has progressed to other regions of the body, such as the lymph nodes, lungs, liver, bones, or bladder. The 5-year survival rate for these tumors is 29 percent.
Keep in mind that each case is unique, and figures like these are merely suggestions. As advances in prostate cancer treatment become more common, your odds of surviving this disease improve.
In general, prostate cancer has a very good survival rate – one of the greatest of any cancer type. Because prostate cancer is frequently a slow-moving disease, the majority of men diagnosed with it will die from an unrelated reason.
Stage 4 prostate cancer means the cancer has spread to lymph nodes or to other parts of the body. It is further divided into two substages:
Prostate Cancer Stage 4A
Stage 4A: The cancer has spread to nearby lymph nodes but may or may not have spread to nearby tissues.
Prostate Cancer Stage 4B ..NOT SURE IF I HIT THIS LEVEL...
Stage 4B: Cancer has spread to another area of the body, such as the bones or distant lymph nodes.
My hospital bills have started to come in; they are much higher than I expected, with more still arriving.
For some unknown reason, Assurance Milade are dragging their heels in getting my Carte Vitale registration completed, so far, it has taken them since May 2021 to process. Yet I still have not received confirmation that they will grant me a Carte Vitale, which covers between 70 and 100 % of medical expenses, depending on the treatment and whether considered an emergency or not.
At best, with my carte vitale in place, I will still have to find many thousands to clear the medical debt and the ongoing funds for my cancer treatment.
I have not been able to work since May, so my finances are becoming very limited, and medical treatment bills are becoming due, with many more accounts still to come for my cancer treatment.
I should begin my cancer treatment, which will cost me c3000 per month for at least 6 to 12 months, depending on how my cancer reacts to the treatment.
So far, since my health issues began, I have spent about 4000 on various treatments, scans, doctor appointments, medication etc.
If you can help me with this fundraiser campaign, please donate what you like; every penny helps.
In return, I will send donors limited edition prints of my fine art photography as a thank you. After you have donated, please contact me for a preview of my fine art prints to select from.
Many thanks in advance...
