This is how the story begins..... Denise is a hardworking, loving single mother to her son Matthew.
Last May Denise was told she had pneumonia. When she went back in July because she still didn't feel good and her back was hurting a lot, they began some tests. This is when the whirlwind of the cancer diagnosis began. Tests upon tests told her that it was definitely cancer and that it had spread.
In the fall she started immunology treatment which she was told had amazing results and had a severe reaction to it and she was hospitalized for monitoring and was quickly moved to ICU as her body was fighting against everything.
Finally released a week later she was told that they would need to switch to chemo treatments since it wasn't safe to continue with the immunology.
Her employer started her on short-term disability, which was only 60% of her income.
Her body started fighting the chemo and she's been hospitalized two more times with complications. Things have been going well for a bit now with a new regime of chemo and other treatments.
She's still not able to work, and has now transitioned to long-term disability and her health insurance is been downgraded to an 80/20 plan.
Trying to keep up with the everyday bills has been tough!
But now the medical bills are rolling in and are no less than $1,000 each!
