My name is Alfred Peter Graham Reporto. I am 29 years old, and in desperate need of a car. On Monday, November 7th 2022, I backed out of my driveway, and while doing so, someone drove through the alleyway my driveway is in and, while going way too fast, side-swiped my rear end and tore up a significant amount of my fence. I do indeed work for a living and while I make a stable income, I have endured some hardships these last couple of months that left me without any credit and finding it very difficult to save. Including having a bout with covid that left me without work for an entire week and a half and having to help cover a roommate who lost her job. It has left me unable to use credit to be able to get a car myself, and building credit far more complex than it needed to be
I could handle both of those things, and just as I finally started building up savings, I had this happen. I am at my wit's end and I am currently too broke. I have to borrow a family vehicle for a short period, but I can't keep it forever. I need to get a new car as soon as possible. While I will most likely get a payout from my insurance, it's not even close enough to cover the damages to my car and the destroyed fence. I decided that for once in my life, I should accept help, swallow my pride, and start this go fund me.
The 2000$ is a baseline price for a reasonably affordable car. I do not expect this gofundme to be able to pay for a brand new car. I wouldn't expect that in a million years. And this 2000$ is not for a down payment, 2000$ is the price range of a car I am looking to buy. And that is the max. I live in a Chicago suburb and constantly need to travel to visit family and friends and look for new business opportunities outside of the city. I need something that's decently taken care of and won't break down within a year of my buying it.
So please, if you can, donate what you can. I don't expect the full two grand. But that would make my life infinitely more manageable, as I wouldn't have to worry about payments, and it would be as if this event had never happened. Thank you so much for reading this and considering me in this desperate time.
