Cat's jaw is broken

I really fucked up. I accidentally let my mom's cat, Princess, out of the house. I don't even know how I did it. I was over there when I was really tired and it was a mistake. A neighborhood dog attacked her and latched on. I had to beat the dog to get him to let go. I rushed her to the emergency vets and they found that her jaw is completely broken in two places. Not a hair line fracture, but broken all the way through. It's my fault and it's the worst I've ever felt about anything. I know I won't be able to live with this if she isn't ok. I applied for a new credit card and put $1,500 on it to put the deposit down for her care. That's just for the weekend stay and xrays until the office that can do the surgery opens on Monday. The surgery is going to cost at least $4,000. She's in too bad of shape for us to care for her until then. My mom took this year off of work to get her degree so she can be a teacher. Getting her degree has been a life-long dream of hers and she's worked hard to make it hapepen. It's been a year of a lot of hard work and thrifty living because she's had to live on savings. She only has $6,000 left to live on until she starts her new job in the fall. My mother's father has end stage cancer and she has to get out to California to see him before he dies (which is a very expensive trip this time of year). He wasn't a very good father and she hasn't seen him in 10 years. It's really important for her to get out there and see him. I need to save my mom's cat, and I need to pay for it myself. There's no way my mom can. I don't have any savings. I have to do it somehow. I wouldn't be able to live with myself otherwise. I know I would carry this around with me for the rest of my life.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. From what the vets have said, it could cost anywhere from 5-8 thousand dollars. I don't know what to do. Anything you donate will go straight to saving Princess. She's been a part of the family since I was a little girl and smuggled her home in my backpack. A family friend's cat had kittens and my mom wasn't sure about letting me have one. Finally she relented. I wanted her so bad and grew up with her. In that time my mom fell in love with Princess and I grew up and moved away. I have to save her. I know this is a rambling post. I'm in the vets office in tears trying to figure out how to get the money together. Anything helps. Even $1. Thank you so much. I will forever return the favor when I see posts like this.
