Fly Kevin Home
Donation protected
August of 2018, my dad suddenly developed serious tremors, lost the ability to walk & struggled to breathe. He was hospitalized in Florida, where he lived.
He lost his job. He lost his house, his car, & most of his possessions to medical bills. He is now homeless.
My dad has some very serious medical issues which require him to have a trachea tube and be hooked up to a ventilator. He struggles daily to breathe. Sometimes he has cardiac issues. And the hardest part of all of this is that he has to go through most of this alone.
I’m his only child and I live all the way in Vermont, with my husband and two small kids. His wife died of pancreatic cancer 3 years ago, so he’s alone down here. I fly down when I can, but it’s expensive & my kiddos need me.
We don’t know what the future holds for my dad, or how much of a recovery he will be able to make. But he needs to be near his family. I need to be there to talk to doctors and consent to medical procedures when needed, and to advocate for him since he can’t speak. I want him to be able to see his grand-babies again. And if I get the call that he’s in bad shape, I want to be there to hold his hand and provide comfort and let him know he’s loved.
Insurance won’t pay to move him, because being near family isn’t “medically necessary.”
I hate that our stupid, for-profit healthcare system forces me to ask you this, but will you please donate a little something to help bring my dad home? I found a charity, Grace on Wings, that provides medline flights at cost (the exact total for air ambulance & ground transport will be $14,618).
If you can, dad and I would be so incredibly grateful. And if you can’t, sharing this campaign is another big way to help.
❤️
Thank you.
