My son has been battling Large B Cell Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma since February 20, 2018. Ironically, on February 20, 2019, we were advised that my sons battle is a battle he will not win . He was given 3-6 months.
Brandon has fought hard never ever giving up. He has endured so much and has done it with such bravery . He had 6 rounds of repoch chemo which consisted of 5 days inpatient every 16 days at John Hopkins University. This treatment was brutal having to endure four chemos 24/7 plus take 4 chemo pills daily. These pills were a trial pill that Brandon agreed to a be a part of in hopes of possibly helping somebody else even if it did not help him. This round of chemo completed July 2019. ( he lived 3 hours from the hospital which was also exhausting and costly )
August 21, 2019 he had a pet scan to see if the chemo had did the job killing the cancer . Unfortunately, it did not . We were advised he had a mixed reaction , killing some of the cancer and at the same time the cancer had spread . We had to find another oncologist near his home, beginning yet another type of chemo. The oncologist had run further pathology tests on his “3rd” biopsy. We were advised the cancer was all cd30 cells allowing him to receive a much less harsh chemo triggering just the cancer cells not his entire body . Thus , allowing all of his hair, facial hair to regrow. Brandon began the chemo in September , 2019. We had also been advised at that time his cancer was very aggressive and he needed to have a bone marrow transplant. This was his only hope and option in order to survive. The goal was to use the “‘maintenance “ chemo to put him into a “remission” allowing him to become a bone marrow transplant candidate .
December 19, 2018, his 33rd birthday, we were advised the chemo was not working . There was only slight improvement after 5 rounds of the second type of chemo . We were also told he was no longer a candidate for bone marrow transplant. Brandon had 2 more rounds scheduled before his next pet scan . The chemo was now being used to maintain and buy him time .
February 17, 2019, pet-scan was done. February 20, 2019, we were advised the cancer grew and the cancer has spread . There is no more treatment . Treatments have all been stopped and his port will be removed March 7, 2019.The financial burden is real . I, his mother , have literally made hundreds of phone call with no one being able to assist. It’s so heart breaking. To know the mental and physical battle he is fighting. He should not have to fight the financial burden also. I am hoping to of raise funds allowing him to stay in his own home during his final battle .

His motto has been all along mom “One Day At A Time “.
So, now we take it “One Day At A Time”.
