Support Austin’s Journey
Donation protected
Austin has passed on, a couple hours after he arrived in New Mexico. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. We appreciate anyone who can continue to donate to help cover the costs of his funeral. Thank you.
Update: we’re unable to bring Austin home to Utah. we are able to move him to a better care facility in New Mexico where he will remain on hospice, and receive better care for his remaining time. We are so grateful for everyone who donated and everyone who counties to donate.
On Sunday July 21st, 2024, Austin’s roommate and her mother discovered him to be non-responsive at his home. They called 911 and the first responders transported him to the ER in Silver City, New Mexico. There, doctors discovered Austin had suffered a massive stroke. In an attempt to save him, Austin’s care team put him into a medically induced coma. A local life flight team volunteered their time to take Austin to El Paso Texas so Austin could receive more treatment. He has since been in Providence Brain and Heart Hospital. Austin’s mother, Afton Lang, and father Kyle Lang traveled to Texas to be with him and has remained there for the last several weeks.
On August 4th, Austin’s medical team in El Paso concluded there was nothing more that they could do for him, and that it was time to begin palliative care. Austin is only 26 and his time left is scarce.
Afton is determined to do all she can to return Austin home to Utah so he can spend the remainder of his life surrounded by family and loved ones. It is also critical that Afton receive the proximate support of her family as she endures this tragedy. Unfortunately, the cost of medically transferring Austin will be tens of thousands of dollars that Afton would have to pay. What’s more, Afton has already accrued substantial costs by taking time off work, traveling to Texas, and attending to Austin over the last several weeks.
We ask that you help ease Afton’s anguish and bring Austin home by donating any amount of money you can.
With deep love and gratitude,
Austin’s loved ones
