Eva's Scoliosis Journey

Donation protected
August 2015 Eva's scoliosis curve progressed from 12* in 2014 to 34*. It was the beginning of a 3+ year journey to combat scoliosis. We tried every conservative method available to fight this hidden disease, but 8/10 people diagnosed will have an aggressive curve that progresses despite any treatment available. We are fundraising to get Eva the most advanced treatment from the best surgeons in the world. This surgery, Anterior Scoliosis Correction, allows the best outcome and still leaves a person with a flexible spine unlike traditional fusion, which creates a solid bone where there used to be a naturally bending spine. A solid inflexible spine later in life can create so much stress on the vertebrae above and below the fusion, patients only options are more fusion and painkillers. This ASC surgery burns no bridges and patients have all options still available to them for treatment in the future if needed. We need your help because this is a relatively new surgery in the medical world, 10+ years old, that is not covered by insurance. This is the future of scoliosis treatment that people deserve to know about to avoid the many complications of standard fusion such as: chronic pain, opioid addiction, salvage surgeries, broken rods etc. Some people have had insurance cover a partial amount, any money not needed will be donated to www.pediatricspinefoundation.org.
