Hello, my name is Mandy Zapata. My family recently was devastated by Hurricane Harvey. We live in Dickinson, Tx. My mom is a Single Mother of 3. She struggled to keep my one year old sister above water, as well as my 14 year old sister. Water kept coming in and there was no where to go. My mom called me crying for me as I was not home at the time. She was using all her energy to make a whole in the roof, she used nail polish to write help on the windows, she struggled to make it on top of the roof. In the morning  I was dropped off in deep waters and swam blocks to make it to my family and rescue them... I risked my life for them and would do it all over again. But it was not over. I nearly made it to deats road as I was losing my breath, the water was up to my neck, then a boat picked me up and my family was no longer at our house.  I had no idea where to go. I was lost and alone. The boat then took me to 45 and still I could not find my mom and sisters. I walked up and down the highway crying for them. I then got onto a bus and they took me to a shelter. I was able to get ahold of my mom and she was only 3 minutes away from me in a nearby shelter. I was able to walk to a gas station and in the rain I wait for my aunt to pick me up. After that, I was reunited with my mom and sisters was blessed to see them. All of our belongings, clothes, and vehicles were destroyed. My mom has worked so hard for everything and in an instant it was all gone. She provides for us on her own and it breaks my heart that I can not help. We have no transportation to work but yet still have bills to pay. There are deductibles we must pay in order to get anywhere. I still have school payments, I attend College of the Mainland and will continue to do so once everything is settled. We will use any donations to buy diapers, clothing for work/school, school supplies, gas, textbooks, transportation, food. Donations small or any at all is greatly appreciated! Bless the people who found me and got me into there boat. Bless the family that helped my mom and younger sisters out.... Thank you to everyone who had us in there prayers.
