Hi, my name is Todd Harris. A few years ago I had a severe stroke. I was in a coma and the hospital told my family "he will be a vegetable, or we can unplug him and he'll die". While It is a miracle that I survived this stroke and retained my mental capacity, over the years I have suffered from numerous medical conditions that have landed me in the hospital over 20 times. Many of these issues I am still dealing with to this day. One of those conditions is kidney disease, where I have to receive dialysis multiple times a week. Kidney disease has taken a toll on my health and finances over the years and has interfered with my ability to work and support myself. While this is my reality, I do not believe this is my destiny. If you've ever seen a fighter who never quits, well I'm that guy, someone who is working very hard to be productive again.
My ask:
Over the years I have had to rely heavily on family support for housing and support while I recover from my stroke and undergo my dialysis treatments. Unfortunately, I am in a dire situation that is forcing me to have to move out of a family members home. Since I am being displaced from my current housing, I now have to fund a move and secure temporary housing by the end of this month. These funds will be used to help me relocate and find safe temporary housing as I await being selected for permanent housing for people with disabilities or a housing voucher. As you may know, these systems often have long waitlists and take a lot of time that I do not have in my current living situation.
Use for the fund:
- Pack, store and transport my goods and myself to safe temporary housing.
- The rest of the funds will be used for housing and utilities, hopefully lasting until either my housing voucher starts or I am able to work again.
Thank you for your consideration and I'm grateful for any support you can provide. Please contribute what you can and spread the word.
With love and gratitude,
Todd Harris
