Theatre Space For Acting Classes!

My name is Ingrid Hart and I am Canada’s first certified teacher of The Chubbuck Technique for actors. We created this GoFundMe to help us reach our goal of establishing Canada’s first permanent Chubbuck studio in Toronto. The studio will enable actors across the country to train and develop their skills using The Chubbuck Technique’s effective and empowering tools for script analysis and scene study. This technique encourages actors to use their own emotions and experiences to drive the character’s need to WIN. It produces stellar performances and often provides great catharsis and huge personal growth. You’re welcome to visit my website, Ingrid Hart Coaching .

Building on a Legacy

The Chubbuck Technique is named after Hollywood acting coach and mentor Ivana Chubbuck and has been successfully used by Tony, Emmy, Golden Globe and Academy Award winning actors such as Charlize Theron, John Voight, Halle Berry, Brad Pitt, Kate Bosworth, Terence Howard, Sylvester Stallone, Jim Carrey, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, Jake Gyllenhaal and scores of others.

I’ve been officially teaching The Chubbuck Technique for several years in Toronto and during that time, I’ve had the privilege of working with some of Canada’s most outstanding talent coast to coast including actor, singer/songwriter and author Asha Bromfield, Joey award winning actor Vanessa Przada, Juno award winning singer/songwriter Sean Jones, educator, writer and Tedx speaker Mehrnaz Bassiri, 2018 Toronto International Film Festival feature actor Dave Roland and many more.

With your support, we will make theatre history and open the first official teaching studio in Canada offering The Chubbuck Technique for actors. In doing this, we will be developing a pool of strong and dedicated Toronto talent who are trained and ready to deliver Hollywood level performances. Our sole focus is to create, educate and empower Canada’s next generation of stars!

The Benefits of Being a Donor

As donors, you’re welcome to come out and audit the classes to see the actors hard at work. As well, you’ll receive updates and demonstration video clips  showing the actors’ progress and accomplishments. Of course, nothing beats the satisfaction of knowing you’ve helped to change the personal and professional lives of Toronto’s film, television and stage performers through providing an ideal space for artistic growth and community.

A Message For All the Non-Actors - Enrol in a Class!

The Studio Costs

For reference, the cost to rent the Commons Space studio for 1 class is $142.80.  A cycle of 4 classes costs $571.20 and there are 5 cycles in a season for a grand total cost of $2856.  Seasons will run from June thru until the end of October yearly.  We're hoping to raise the full amount to pay for the entire upcoming 2019 season.  Any denomination will be greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!

The Space

The Commons Space, located in the heart of downtown Toronto’s Little Italy neighbourhood is part of a portfolio of performance spaces run by the wonderful folks at Brick and Mortar Toronto . I’ve taught many classes in their spaces over the years and we look forward to continuing a fruitful partnership with them.
