My sweet sister left this earth surrounded by family and friends last night. As I slept by her side in hospice the night before she passed, she looked over at me with a big grin and said “Marci, I did it! I put up a good fight and I fought hard. I did it! I won and we won.” She was 28 years old. We plan to celebrate her life March 9, 2019
From Jamie: To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven.
~ Ecclesiastes 3:1
If you didn’t know Jamie, you missed out. She was a beautiful courageous soul. I have NEVER once heard her complain. She amazingly comforted those around her as she lay dying in a hospital bed. Ask yourself, if you had one day to live what would you request? She requested that she was taken to hospice, instead of live to see another day, to see the children that love her dearly. As I watch 100 people come and go and kids say good bye, I knew that I would never cross paths with someone as pure as her.
Jamie was diagnosed with a genetic disorder called NF at a very young age. She struggled with tumor growths in her brain her whole life. This last year she had brain surgery to remove part of a tumor that was causing her paralysis of her left side. After a month of rehabilitation, where she was doing great. She was finally able to come home but a few weeks later she started rapidly declining.
We took her to the hospital for a doctors appointment and ended up rushing her to the emergency room.
It was discovered that the tumor once again, was wrapping itself around her brain stem causing paralysis and compressing the respiratory area in her brain. No one knew why this tumor had grown so fast and why it had become so aggressive.
They desperately tried to remove part of the tumor again to relieve some of Jamie’s symptoms. Unfortunately, it didn’t help and after a few days, Jamie was not improving.
After having her 11th brain surgery, we found out Jamie had brain cancer. The next day we found out it was terminal. The next day we discussed her wishes with her and the next day she was moved to hospice. We spent one night having a “sleepover” in hospice and the next evening she passed away surrounded by her family and friends. My heart aches. It was to fast.
Jamie did NOT have life insurance. We need financial help to cover medical expenses including her after services. The funds from this will go to my dad.
We humbly ask for your help to take a little stress off of her and our family. Even if you just share this post, we are grateful. God bless and much love ❤️
