Muddy Brook Farm, a well-known and deeply loved equestrian center located in Amherst MA, is facing extremely hard times. Just as the world is emerging from a global pandemic that has had a devastating effect on small business owners, Kathy Roberts and Muddy Brook are faced with another health-related challenge. This one is targeting the horses. There is a virus circulating that has put the entire herd of beloved horses and ponies at risk, and they've already lost a couple of amazing horses. To follow the complex quarantine protocol in place and prevent the spread of the virus, and to keep up with the expensive current medical needs of the horses, many supplies and medicines are needed. Importantly, to keep the horses safe, human access to the barn must be limited, so lessons and show team training for the Middle and High School IEA teams, as well as the collegiate riders, have all been suspended. You don’t need to be a barn owner or even love horses to imagine the dire financial situation this is putting Muddy Brook farm in.
For anyone who has ever been to Muddy Brook Farm or has known Kathy and the amazingly dedicated team of folks who keep the place running, it's a very special place. Both kids and adults have had life-changing experiences there, whether it be just beginning to learn to ride, giving treats and grooming one of the beloved ponies or competing at Nationals, the programs and access Kathy offers are exceptional.
Please consider donating anything you can to help Muddy Brook through this difficult time. The farm has impacted the lives of so many over the years, let’s keep it going for the next generation! Muddy Brook Strong!!
