Hannah’s Fight

Hannah Freitas is a young 25 year old who was diagnosed in July 2023 with an extremely rare and aggressive cancer. This cancer has been studied in only about 300 cases here in the states, 500 throughout the world. The ovarian cancer, small cell carcinoma of the ovary hypercalcemic type (SCCOHT), has taken a toll physically, emotionally, and financially. Hannah has fought this cancer and underwent 5 rounds of 6 different types of chemo each time, after having the tumor removed. There is no specific treatment for this type of cancer, however, after doctors in Louisiana consulted with doctors across country, the decision was to try an aggressive 6 rounds of chemotherapy followed with a stem cell transplant. Unfortunately, Hannah was not well enough to undergo her last round of chemo that should have been administered late 2023. Since then, she has started physical therapy and occupational therapy but never returned to a strong enough state to begin the stem cell transplant. Hannah is now trying immunotherapy after finding more tumors that have grown from the latest PET scan. The community has been very supportive of Hannah’s fight with this journey and the Freitas family is extremely grateful for all prayers, thoughts and help with such a battle.
