As most of you know, my sister Averee has been diagnosed with Lyme disease. It took years for her to receive a proper diagnosis and find a doctor, which means that she is already behind in the treatment of a complicated and long-term disease. Fortunately, she has found a wonderful doctor who is using a variety of methods including diet, lifestyle and naturopathy to help her finally find relief. Even in the short time she has been seeing this doctor (less than six months) she has begun to feel improvement. 
Unfortunately, Lyme is not the type of disease that is cured with a round of antibiotics or a short hospital stay. Averee is at the very start of what will be a years-long process of repairing damage to nearly every system of her body including her eyes, gut, and joints. And with this long process comes medical bills. She has already had several hospital and doctor visits just leading up to finding a diagnosis, and will continue to accumulate visits and bills. There will be further tests to ensure her treatment plan is working as well the added costs of those treatments.
Medical bills are difficult and frustrating at the best of times, but when one has a chronic illness, even the slightest extra bill such a copay for a visit or a bottle of ibuprofen becomes a wearisome burden. Your donation will ensure that her treatment does not get interrupted due to lack of funds, setting her back even further. It will help her not have to decide between a necessary test or paying for groceries that week. 
There are several urgent items that your donation will assist Averee with, including a test that will determine what strain of Lyme she has (to ensure her treatment is appropriate) and stocking up on the many different vitamins/probiotics that will help with her gut health (gut health is extremely important for immune system support.)
