Kizzy -The Case of a Failing Heart
Imagine waking from your sleep gasping for air. Wondering why you are unable to catch your breath. Being home alone hoping, praying and wishing someone would just call or stop by. As I struggled to breathe, I noticed my legs, my ankles and my feet were swollen. I was so afraid! I wanted to cry out but my struggle to breathe prevented me from doing so. This was only the first episode of realizing I was suffering from heart failure.
Most people who suffer from congestive heart failure are much older. I, however, am part of a few but growing number of twenty-year-old persons who are now experiencing this progressively and inevitably fatal disease at such a young age. I am reaching out to any and everyone to assist me with obtaining medical care I so desperately need. I live in St. Vincent & the Grenadines where the medical establishment is so severely lacking in supplies, equipment, medicine and medical personnel I must fly to Trinidad to receive better health care services. It is extremely costly and healthcare plans do not exist to aid in covering medical expenses. I am looking to raise $20,000US to receive optimal care required to slow the progression of my disease by implanting a pacemaker, acquiring the necessary medicine to manage my condition along with travel and extended hospital stay expenses. After suffering for several years without proper medical attention, I now require immediate and intensive care. Without receiving support at this juncture, I will ultimately need a heart transplant for which is nearly impossible to acquire in St. Vincent.
