At PS46Q The Alley Pond School, we are proud to be the first school in New York State to be certified sensory inclusive, dedicated to creating an environment where all students, especially those with special needs, can thrive. Our successful program for autistic students has made a significant impact, but we aspire to elevate our support even further.
We are reaching out to ask for your help in making our vision a reality. We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to raise funds for two essential initiatives that will create a more inclusive and supportive atmosphere for our students:
- Action Sensory Room: We aim to create a dedicated space where students can engage in activities that provide the movement and sensory input they need. This room will be equipped with various sensory tools and equipment designed to help students self-regulate and focus, allowing them to flourish in their learning environment.
- Soundproof Sensory Nook: Many of our students become overwhelmed by loud noises and large crowds, especially during school events in our auditorium. A soundproof sensory nook will offer a quiet, calming space for students to retreat when they feel overstimulated, ensuring they can continue to participate in school activities with comfort and confidence.
