Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family of the Kelly Family,
We wanted to let you know that after several weeks of urgent inpatient and outpatient care, John has been hospitalized for the last 45 days at Brigham & Women's hospital, and is now awaiting a heart transplant.
Despite being very healthy, running the Boston Marathon in 2018, and his very active life- John began experiencing increasing symptoms of heart failure this fall. The Doctors are unsure of what ultimately led to this, however, suspect it was a heart virus he caught when he was much younger. Regardless, after several procedures to stabilize him- he is now at B&W awaiting a donor.

His prognosis is very good, he's listed at very high priority, and he is ready for surgery, however, the arrival of the Corona COVID 19 virus has significantly disrupted the entire organ donor pipeline. This has changed his timeline from 2-3 months, to possibly as long as 8-9 months. John is currently quarantined at the highest level and can not have any visitors in an effort to prevent the introduction of any foreign bodies into his environment. As you can imagine, this separation is incredibly difficult for both John and his family.

Many have offered help and support. Given the quarantine levels needed for both John and the entire family, the greatest help is in the form of monetary donations to help defray the costs associated with medical treatment, traveling in and out of Boston, the coming extended hotel stays, and if this goes on long enough protecting the family financially.

So many thanks to everyone for the incredible level of support and love. Both John and Wendy's strength is a true source of inspiration for all. We will update this site as frequently as possible.
Thank you,
Family Friends,
Amy Kelly & Kate McEleney
