No wheels in Vermont winter

Donation protected
Hi, I'm Anne, and this is one of the hardest things I have ever done, but desperate times call for desperate measures.

I live in rural Vermont (isn't ALL of Vermont rural?), having relocated here from NJ when they started paving my rural region over. I lost my first husband to cancer, and in 2010, I met and fell for the great love of my life, Tommy, who is several things. He is a wonderful, caring person who would give you the last crumb from his plate. He is a funny and generous father to his own three children and my two daughters from my first marriage. He is a tremendously gifted electrician who can take vintage knob-and-tube wires and bring a shack up to residentail code. He is a US Navy veteran. He is also functionally blind. He gets his medical care at the VA hospital an hour from our home.

Due to Tommy's visual impairment, he does not drive, though he is capable of working, and does small residential electrical jobs all over the region. I also work outside of our home as a floral designer, as well as run an art and photography studio. Throughout both of our adult lives, we have never been without a vehice, and we suddenly lost the one we have, without the means to replace it. Kind relatives and friends have loaned us cars, but we need to get reliable wheels under us. We live ten miles past the middle of nowhere and have found ourselves stranded, a situation which is unmanageable. The various agencies that are supposed to be available to help when we need rides to medical appointments have not been forthcoming, and as for work, they are of no use whatsoever.

I am hoping to raise enough money to walk into a used car lot and purchase a pick-up truck outright. I am savvy to used car purchases (I have been identified as The Truck Whisperer by one of our kids) and know armed with cash, I can get a great deal on something decent. I just need to supplement the limited funds we have, which is why I am making this campaign. I hope to have the funds within the rest of 2015 so we start the new year with transportation.

If you let me know who you are, I will be rolling out an edition of prints of a work of art to send to any donors. And you will have our eternal gratitude. Sometimes, it takes a village to not be stranded on the side of a mountain. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
