Help my dog walk again❤️

Our beloved dog Ravn was out playing with his ball 20.05.22

Out of nowhere Ravn screams and lies paralyzed. He tries to stand up, but his back legs won't follow. We get an emergency appointment with the veterinarian where examinations and scans are taken. There are no findings on the scans and Ravn has no reaction to deep pain triggering. We were recommended CT scans as the vet suspected a foreign body in the spinal cord, unfortunately the examination could not be done until 21.05.22

We were told that if there was a bite in the spinal cord it could be removed with an operation. In the evening we were told that there have been no findings on the CT scan, and that they were afraid he was too badly injured. We couldn't make the painful choice, so we asked if there was anything else we could do for him. They told us that the MRI scan could show even more details of his injurie. Then we were referred to Jeløy (a place in Norway) for MRI and neurologist.

We picked up Ravn at the animal hospital on Sunday night so that we arrived at Jeløy at 8 am Monday morning and Ravn was admitted to await the MRI and results. At 7 PM that same day we finally got a call from the animal hospital. They had made findings on the MRI scan and the good news was that nothing had been damaged, but Ravn was badly injured meaning his nerves were pinched and made him constantly paralyzed. They further said that there is hope for Ravn and that he will be able to stand on his feet again, but it may take some time and that it requires a lot of physical training both by therapists and at home❤️❤️❤️

Our vet Barbara was going on holiday and recommended us to Sandvika rehabilitation for small animals. Here, Ravn received fantastic help and training from Greta. We were so well received. When we met our veterinarian/physiotherapist after the holiday, Barbara told us about a fantastic treatment center in Portugal, which has helped several dogs back on their feet. How wonderful is that! We were never promised that it could happen to Ravn, but we wanted to give him this opportunity. Ravn has now been in Portugal for 4 months. He has gained movement in his back legs, some strength in his back and has a bladder that is much better than before we left. We've been told that even if Ravn doesn't walk yet, a lot can still happen in the next 2 years, but it will require a lot of exercise at home and with a physical therapist several times a week.

Our insurance has only covered a tiny part of the whole treatment and we’ve been taking consumer loan to continue. The battle for rehabilitation is not yet over. This will take time and we are starting to run out of resources. That's why we ask those of you who have the opportunity to help support our dog! ❤️ Every penny is welcome, we also appreciate if you can share this gofundme. We think it’s difficult to ask for help, but we just can’t give uo our beloved Ravn. He is our best friend, little brother and sunshine! We can't bear the thought of not helping him when it turns out that he has a spark of life and that there is hope that he will be able to walk again.
