For Ofelia’s battle she fought so hard

My name is Angie and for those who really know me, know I reach out for help when i cannot do it alone.

I’ve had the pleasure of not only meeting, but becoming family to this beautiful woman inside and out. She’s a mother, a wife, a fighter , survivor and the love she has for God shines through her.

Ofelia is the mother of my son’s partner. She’s the other grandma to our beautiful grandson. Recently, shortly after celebrating our grandsons baby shower, Ofelia and family received devastating news. During a time of celebration and happiness, came news that no one could ever be ready for.

Ofelia’s not new to such news as she has overcome it in the past. However, cancer has managed to make it back into her life with a vengeance.

She was quickly scheduled for a procedure to hopefully remove the cancer. Unfortunately, when taking a closer look, it was found the cancer not only returned to her liver, but has taken over many of her vital organs. The cancer has metastasized to her stomach, colon , ovaries and lungs.

This grim news brings unbearable pain not only emotionally, but physically. Ofelia is unable to work, has started treatment, and has had multiple visits to the ER for pain control leading to hospital admissions, followed by even more procedures requiring up front payments.

I understand that life is difficult for so many people right now. Anything you can contribute to off load the financial burden of what she and her family faces would be a great blessing. Her spouse Martin is doing everything he can to provide for his family but is also missing a lot of work in order to advocate for Ofelia at the hospital, during procedures and managing her comfort at home.

I have seen first hand what The power of prayer can do when we gather. I have also seen complete selflessness and generosity from people I have never met. When I asked Ofelia for her permission to start this fund, she was speechless and asked for prayers at the very least. She says the power of prayer really helps comfort her. She wants nothing more than to be here for her family and of course watch our grandson grow.

So here I am, once again, asking from the bottom of my heart for your support. I humbly am asking for your help to provide a sense of financial relief so that Ofelia and Martin can focus more on getting through this without having to stress over financial burdens or even the fear of not being able to get treatment due to extremely high co-pays and medical bills.

No one deserves to suffer such pain and burden. Everyone deserves to be blessed when they are truly in need.
