Matt Christian's Acting Journey

Hello friend! My name is Matt and I have a dream. A dream I once thought too big to chase. A dream I never though would come to fruition. A dream that I am learning can actually become a reality!
Growing up, one of my favorite things to do was watch movies. The characters, the stories, the adventure and the magic all combined to create other worlds I longed to explore. I always thought it looked like so much fun to fully become someone else and help tell the stories that come alive on the silver screen!
When I hit high school, I took my first leap into the acting world and starred in my first theatre production of Robin Hood as the Sheriff of Nottingham. This first taste of show business was all it took to spark the passion for performing that has come to define me!
I went on to perform in 7 productions through my local community theatre and take a wonderful year and a half of vocal lessons, but when it came time to leave for college, I reluctantly hung up my dreams to prepare myself for "the real world".
College was a good time and I learned a lot, but before long due to matters beyond my control, I had to drop out and come home. I always planned on going back and took on many jobs to try to earn my way, but things kept happening to prevent my education. Life got discouraging.
Earlier this year, I was watching one of my favorite films, 'Good Will Hunting.' Robin Williams performance in that picture never ceases to move and inspire me, and sitting there on my couch, the desire to act, and to move people in the same way Robin Williams moved me was reignited.
A week or so after thinking about how amazing it would be to work as an actor again, I googled 'good acting agencies' thinking I might stumble across a forum or site where people post about their experiences with local agencies. The first link I clicked was for an agency 45 minutes from my house called Pro-Model and Talent Management. After doing come research, I found the page where you could send your information and picture to possibly set up an interview. "What the heck?" I thought as I uploaded a recent picture. I sent in my current information and got up to check my phone (which was in my room). I already had a missed call from the agency saying they got my info and love my look! When could I come in for an interview?
After several interviews and much research on the agency (making sure I wasn't being taken advantage of through some scam), I came to the conclusion that PMTM was legit and that this was an incredible opportunity!! I took a class to learn how to audition correctly and signed a contract with the agency. I was now a legit actor!
Through the last six months, I have been an extra on a feature film, been to many auditions and shot three episodes for a kids web series in my local area! It has been the time of my life!!
Through PMTM, I have the opportunity to travel to Los Angelas in January for a week to attend something called IMTA - International Model and Talent Association. This is a week of auditions and competitions where over 350 of the top agents and managers in the business come together and talent from all over the country are brought in to showcase their talents and hopefully be signed with an agency in the entertainment capital of the world! My agency prepares their clients for this competition so well that they have between 94%-100% placement success!
Here is where I am asking for your help. It will cost me around $5,000 for classes, head shots, travel accommodations, transportation and the convention. Although I have a job and am looking for a second one, this will be difficult for me to accomplish on my own. I would be forever grateful if you believe in my enough to help back my trip!! Your funds and support will not be wasted!
I am learning that it doesn't matter how small you start or what tiny town you come from, you are enough. YOU are enough and I am enough. We are enough to chase our dreams and see them become our reality! What matters is your determination and confidence that your dream - whatever it may be - can and will become a reality!
One more story and I'll let you go; At the beginning of the summer I went to see a movie by myself. As I was walking out of the theater, for some reason, I looked back at the posters hanging on the building. Right then and there a confidence and determination rose up within me that I have never felt before. "I will be up there someday." I remember thinking to myself. And there is no doubt whatsoever in my mind that that will happen.
If you decide that you are in a place where you can financially help me along my journey to make my dreams come true, I would be forever grateful and would love to send you a hand written thank you note if you message me your address!!
Thank you so much my friends!! And may God bless you on your own journey!
