It's surreal to even be typing this. I never thought I would need to do something like this.

If you don't know me or my family, my name is Swisher Smith III (or "Jay" to most family), son of Swisher Smith Jr and Brenda Braithwaite. We have lived our whole lives here in Mineral County. My father, a veteran, local business owner, volunteer, and honest hard-working man has helped countless friends and strangers in the tri-state area and beyond. My mother owned and operated her daycare facility for years and helped raise many young children, while raising her own, and enjoyed spending her time with her grandchildren at home.

Around 5:30 AM, Thursday, April 20th, she woke to find her house filled with smoke and immediately discovered the back of her house in a full blaze. She was able to wake my younger sister, Mckenzie Smith, who also lived in the home and her 5-year-old daughter. They made it out with nothing but the clothes they were wearing. Not even shoes. Worst of all, none of the family pets were able to escape. Everything else inside is a complete loss. The majority of the yard toys and bikes have fire damage.

Two adults and one child were the only full-time residents of the home but it was "Maw Maw's House" to the other 6 grandchildren too. Soon it will be another vacant lot in town.

While the insurance company goes through its process, I am asking anyone able and willing to donate even just a few dollars to help my family. Every cent received will go directly to them to kickstart some vision of Maw Maw's House v2.

I may be biased but they are good people. They will give anything but never ask for anything. So, I'm asking for them.
