Many of you know John Slagor from the Pest Control industry. John absolutely loved his work, traveling to trade shows, creating literature, teaching lessons on ground squirrels, whatever it may be, if it was related to Pest Control it was his passion and still very much is what he enjoys talking about. Being a sales rep however does not come with insurance or retirement and we are finding ourselves struggling to take care of him at the level he deserves.
In 2020 John had a stroke that changed him quite dramatically as it impacted his ability to walk. He has been in hospice care, a care center, and now is in an assisted living type of home where he can receive better and personalized care. Tracey and Alexis, John’s daughter and granddaughter took care of him for 2 ½ years at home before having to place John in this home as it became very difficult towards the end.
John now has dementia but clearly remembers all of his friend’s names from the industry and will talk about things clear as day that happened over a certain amount of years ago, he holds onto those memories of everyone very preciously. Most of our conversations when we visit are about trade shows, Lompoc, Reno, Anaheim - that’s where his mind likes to wander.
We are asking for help as we are struggling to manage ourselves as well as his expenses. John always would help people without question, a very generous and kind person, he wouldn’t like that we are asking for help for him.
If you are unable to donate, Tracey would like to ask if you have anyone who is buying or selling a home to be referred to her so that it may be used to take care of John.
We would like to hit our goal to help pay for 3 months in the home so we may catch up as Tracey needs a knee surgery after injuring herself transferring John when he did still live at home. If you can help towards this goal, anything would be helpful and appreciated very deeply at this point. If you cannot help financially, please send prayers our way and ask for wisdom for us, and for him to have peace beyond all understanding. My dad became a Christian after he had a stroke, and he loves Jesus. I honestly think God gave my dad a chance because he is such a good man, but he gave him a chance to find God through his illness and that makes everything worth it.!
Please help in any way you can, we appreciate it so much, all funds 100% of them will go to my dad’s care, if you would like to send a card to John or any words in a comment below, we will make sure to pass that along to him as he likes to know people are thinking about him.
Thank you.
