Jenna's fight with cancer
Donation protected
Some of you might know, many might not, but our beloved Joe and Jenna received some difficult news recently. After finding a lump and having a biopsy done, Jenna has been diagnosed with breast cancer. I don’t have to explain how awful cancer is, as many of us know someone who has battled with it before, so lets help them fight it!
I met Joe when I started working at JHACH in 2017. Not only has he been a huge part of my professional development as a nurse, but most importantly he has been a great mentor and an amazing friend. Soon after meeting him I was introduced to his better half, Jenna. Jenna is a ray of sunshine, who brightens your day when you see her. I have never seen her mad or upset; she is always smiling (except on New Years Eve when I smacked her leg too hard and she got upset with me).
A diagnosis like cancer is stressful enough to deal with by itself, but adding finances to the situation multiples this burden. One of the many complications of cancer and having to receive chemotherapy is the damage it can cause to the ovaries. As Jenna would like to have babies in the near future (who will hopefully look like her and not Joe), one of her options is to freeze her eggs. This procedure costs approximately $7,000. Yikes, those are some expensive omelettes! With that being said, the goal of this fundraiser is to decrease the financial weight of this cost. Here is where we come in. I would like to raise money for both Joe and Jenna to help dissipate the expenses associated not only with Jenna's medical care, but also other avenues this diagnosis may affect.
They have given me so much and helped me through some tough times in the past so it is time for me to return the favor. Unfortunately, I am unable to do this alone so I am asking for some help from everyone. Any amount helps, and every dollar raised will go directly towards their costs--and definitely NOT towards my student loans.
Thank you!
