I'm Hannah, the daughter of Val, who has been out of work since July 1, 2025.

This is the hardest thing to do, but I'm reaching out for help! Since July, I have been helping my mom pay her bills and buy groceries. My mom has been a hard worker all her life! If you know her, she isn't one to sit around for very long! She has been a hairdresser for 50-plus years. She is self-employed and misses not working. Seeing her clients is one of the hardest things for her. My mom is my hero as she has taught me so much!

The story of what happened to Val:

She had a steroid shot in her arm to help with her pain. Well, a few days later, she heard a snap in her right arm. She went to the doctor and was told she needed reconstruction on her right shoulder. They scheduled the surgery for August 8th. Well, one week before surgery, they called to tell her she couldn't have surgery because of the steroid shots she had in June; she had to wait another month. So, they scheduled surgery for September 17th. Well, that one got canceled because she ended up with an infection. Now, surgery is scheduled for November 3, 2025.

My mom was really planning on being back to work by Thanksgiving party time if the surgery had happened in August. Now, she is looking at not getting back to work until next year!
