Hello everyone. If you're reading this, I am already very grateful. Before I share how we got here, I want to share an African proverb that means a lot to me. "It takes a village to raise a child." And yes, I am certainly past the age to be regarded as a child. However, I value and cherish the meaning behind "it takes a village." It has literally and figuratively carried me through. And you being here willing to invest in my future makes you a part of my village. Welcome, gang. And since we're on the topic of villages...

Within healthcare, this principle remains true. Patient-centered care does not happen without the efforts and hard work from the clinical staff, administrators, non-clinical professionals, and so on. For me, my passion lies in nursing. I embarked on my nursing education at Drexel University in their 11-month accelerated program. Through hardwork and dedication, I managed to successfully complete half the program. Standing between me and the pinning ceremony is six more rigorous months and the balance I owe. That is why I am asking for the support of my village to make it across that stage.

I am a rising nurse leader who aspires to galvanize impactful change within the healthcare system where every concern is heard, accounted for, and cared for. Often, we hear horrific stories of patients who received lackluster treatment by the hands of exhausted, overworked, underpaid nursing staff. This very common scenario is counterproductive and does not create a healing experience for anyone involved. Empowered nurses empower patients. Equipping the team with the proper tools and resources yields an enhanced quality patient care experience and boost retention. I want to work in a system that advocates for me just as much as I advocate for them. I want to work for an organization that is proud and honored to invest in my skills in the same manner that I do for my patients every single day. That is the kind of nurse I dream of becoming.
