i write to you from between cracked walls from a house that is no longer a home only stones remain after the bombing they protect from no cold and offer no safety
our home is badly damaged not completely destroyed but no longer livable
we carry my siblings from place to place trying to hide the fear in their eyes but the truth is too harsh to hide
we have been displaced countless times searching for a corner of safety but war always gets there first stealing everything even our dignity
today we live without shelter without food without water without anything that keeps a human human
mohammad five years old and mustafa four go to sleep hungry and wake to the same pain
reemas fourteen and lana nine stopped dreaming school is no longer a wish but a sweet memory war has stolen
my mother fights with all she has to stay strong for us and my father
my father who was once our mountain is now helpless hurting in silence
he needs urgent surgery for his eyes but he cannot get it even the cost of anesthesia alone in gaza today is crushing let alone a full surgery with hospitals destroyed
my father flinches at every word we say to him rest dad he replies with tearful eyes and a broken heart
what hurts me most is how he feels defeated when he can no longer protect us and i have nothing to save him with
and i the eldest son live every moment powerless wishing to feed my siblings to warm them to heal my fathers heart and make my mother smile again
but we are sinking slowly in a silent death
we ask for little only what keeps us alive
some food clean water blankets clothes to protect my siblings from the cold
simple things but in gaza today distant dreams
please do not close your hearts
if we survived the bombs do not let us die of hunger
