Give and be Grateful!
It’s been hard to miss the coverage of the devastating rains and floods that have ravaged much of South Carolina this past week. While the sun is now shining is much of the east coast today… our fellow friends, family and neighbors to the south are beginning the arduous process of literally salvaging and piecing their lives back together. Many of those that I know from home were affected by this incredible disaster…it hit especially close to home with my very best friend from childhood and my daughter’s God-Mother, Joslyn Otis. Joslyn, John Michael, Bonner and Mitchell Otis’s home was situated in one of the hardest hit areas of Columbia, SC. Their home, cars and personal belongings were all submerged in the over flowing waters of Lake Catherine. Gone are the everyday items that they relied upon, gone are their children’s toys and happy collections, gone are sentimental items and furnishings that priceless in sentimental value… thank the good Lord, they are all ok and safely staying with their in-laws close by.
I have been at a loss in knowing how I could help. So many of you here in CT have reached out to inquire about my family and to also ask how you might be of service. Thank you for this thoughtfulness. HERE IS THE ANSWER!!! Your help is needed NOW! Who knows what kind of aid, insurance coverage or help will be provided in the long term… Like so many others, this family needs help NOW! From replacing simple everyday items to having to put their home back together, the most urgent need is financial help. This unforseen distaser has taken not only an emotional but a very real physical and financial toll. Please… GIVE whatever amount you can and be grateful that you can play such a vital part in directly helping a family in need. This family, like many in SC… will be rebuilding their lives for some time ahead. It was not so long ago that much of the northeast was in a similar recovery from ‘Hurricane Sandy’- so for today, let’s be grateful that our daily lives and routines are largely unaffected and GIVE back to those who need it. There is power in numbers… I am pleading for my Facebook friends near and far to contribute whatever dollar amount you can. This precious family is so dear to my heart and is beyond humbled by and most grateful for your generosity. Please GIVE and be grateful that you CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Thank you!
