Hello, my name is
Ronnie C. Rouse. On
March 9, 2016, my best friend
Rakeem Jones and myself (pictured in the UNC Jersey) were at a
Donald Trump Campaign Event at the
Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, NC. After being asked to leave, in the process of being escorted out by the
Cumberland County Sheriff's Department,
Rakeem was
struck in the face by a member of the crowd in front of those very same deputies. The deputies
immediately took Rakeem to the ground, and allowed the
assailant to return to his seat to continue to watch the event. The department released a statement stating that deputies
were not looking when the assault occured, which is clearly not true as seen in the picture above. The assailant was arrested the next day after videos I and others released went viral. The CCSD is conducting an
internal investigation, but has yet to
acknowledge any wrong doing or justify the actions, and inaction of their deputies. Rakeem is a victim who became a victim for being a victim. He was assaulted, thrown to the ground by law enforcement, and is now receiving multiple legitimate death threats; one of which was internationally televised.Rakeem and myself have retained the joint legal counsel of
Attorney Allen W. Rogers to deal with the media, and a potential
civil suit against the CCSD.
Rakeem has been moving place to place, staying with me, other friends, and family because he
fears for the safety of his own family which includes a
5 year old son. He
needs to relocate immediately and the pay he receives from being a tutor and his other part time job is not enough to cover that and his
mounting legal fees. Especially since he hasn't been able to work due to the spotlight the story has cast upon him. Please help. All proceeds will be placed into an account at
Branch Banking And Trust, 5137 College Center Drive, Fayetteville, NC 28311, that will be delivered to
Rakeem personally for himself and his family. To hear more about the story and view more media, visit
Justice For Rakeem Jones where you will find a link to this
GoFundMe campaign.
We just want him to feel secure and make sure he and his family are safe during this time of uncertainty.Thank you sincerely,
