Hello my name is Dee and Max is 1 of my 4 dogs. We took him to our regular vet that we had been going to for 9 years on March 10th with concerns regarding his health and after a blood test, the vet diagnosed him with Cushing's Disease.

Not being totally satisfied with the care and treatment we received my significant other and I took Max to a different vet on March 16th for a 2nd opinion where they looked at the previous vet's blood work and redid their own. Max's glutose level was 471 and he diagnosed a full blown diabetic. The vet was extremely worried about his body entering keto acidosis as this stage can be fatal. She put him on 3 ML of insulin, confirmed he does have Cushing's disease as well as a heart murmur that our regular vet of 9 years seemed to miss.

After being on insulin for a week it only brought his gluctose level down 30 points, Max has weekly gluctose checks until we can get his gluctose regulated. The vet said that after getting his diabetes under control, we could then get him on some medication for Cushing's disease.

Insulin, needles, diet dog food, Cushing's medicine, vet bills, gas to and from it's all expensive and we are doing our very best to give Max the best rest of his life.
