Hi everyone!
My name is Amy Nguyen and I’m a junior at Franklin High School in South Seattle. In the beginning of February, I had the opportunity to go to California to tryout for the Junior World’s U20 Women’s USA team. Two days ago, I found out that I made the team! I now get the chance to travel to Waterloo, Canada to play in the World Junior Ultimate Championships.
I got involved with frisbee in 6th grade at Aki Kurose Middle School and have been playing ever since. I grew such a strong love for the sport that I decided to branch out and play on more teams and even decided to do some coaching. I’ve played on YCC’s U20 women’s team, Seven Hills ultimate, and on varsity at FHS. I’ve coached at Aki Kurose for many years and even helped out at some Southend Ultimate camps during the summer.
Ultimate has made such a huge impact on my life. The love and support I get from my friends, teammates, and coaches is amazing. That love and support has gotten me to where I am today and got me to be the player I am today. I couldn’t have done it without them.
Although being on this team is such an honor and I am super excited for it, the cost has become a big barrier. My family and I talked about it, and they knew it wasn’t possible. I didn’t want money to come in the way of my opportunity to play on the Junior World’s team. As of right now, I am working with to make some money and also selling some of my belongings. Even doing that won’t get me enough, which is why I need your help! Any donation, big or small, will help me reach my goal of $3000. If you are not able to donate, I hope you consider sharing my post because even that will help me.
