Help Puerto Rico Survive and Rebuild
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
As you might have heard, Puerto Rico has suffered dozens of earthquakes in the past month. Three of those quakes, caused significant damage to many homes, and have uprooted many families, driving them to shelters and unofficial tent communities being organized by neighbors. My mother has been sleeping outside for the past four days, fearful that her home could collapse with another tremor. She lives in Juana Diaz which is a town near Ponce in the south of Puerto Rico. While they are still dealing with all the tremors which have continued, the people of Puerto Rico are also dealing with not having power and water. My mom has been running a gasoline generator obtained after hurricane Maria, so thankfully she is one of the luckiest ones. She has also decided to stay in her back yard and avoid shelters. My brother has joined her, because he can’t stay at his house either. Families gather, help each other, and pray for the earthquakes to stop.
I am asking all of you to consider donating to my family, as well as, other families who might need a little help to buy food, fuel, and clothing to survive in the next few months.
My goal is to be able to send them five thousand dollars to use for food, fuel, clothing and other immediate needs.
