Hospital Gowns for The Stollery
Friends! Last week I got an email from Child Life Services asking me where I got the hospital gowns from our previous fundraiser. The NICU was inquiring because these gowns have special velcro closures rather than metal snaps to protect their fragile skin (and the snaps can be quite painful too).
So if you remember, 2 years ago I did a fundraiser for Teddy's Birthday for hospital gowns for The Stollery and it was a MAJOR success. Last time we did 122 gowns to all 3 Critical Care Units. This time we are doing it for Heart Month more specifically CHD week! This time I am aiming for DOUBLE what we did last time - which means an assortment of 244 gowns is our goal!
A little background about the gowns,... Carol Spain created a company in Winnipeg, MB called Itty Bity Baby Clothing Co. I came across her store one day and after getting to know her we discovered that she made hospital gowns. Well I HAD to have one for my son. Carol and her team make these gowns with the softest cotton, that doesn't shrink and with the cutest prints for ALL babies, micro-preemies too! These gowns have been personally tested, they open up as one big piece so you can lay it out and lay your child on top. It worked in the PCICU with all the tubes and wires, even while intubated, our nurses loved them as they don't get in the way of lines and as a Mom it makes you feel so good to see your baby dressed in clothing from home, that smells like home and is soft and comforting.
So, in honour of CHD week and our warrior Teddy, I am asking you all to help us fundraise money to purchase hospital gowns for the babies and children in the Critical Care Units at The Stollery Children's Hospital.
