TLC for our fighter TCB

Theryn C. Bond is a Memphis activist and political advocate for progressive candidates. In October 2018 she was diagnosed with fibroids and began treatment, but when returning from a trip over Thanksgiving she required 4 transfusions and had to be hospitalized. Then, in November, Theryn was diagnosed with Stage 2b cervical cancer.


Since then, she has started an aggressive treatment plan. The initial plan was for 25 radiation sessions and 5 chemotherapy sessions. Following that, 4 internal radiation sessions are now added beginning mid-February. During the first internal radiation session, doctors will assess whether further chemotherapy and surgery are required.  


We all know how strong she has been for others, but now she needs our support. With these treatments, Theryn has been accruing over $1k in medical expenses each week since the beginning of January (in addition to 2018 bills for the ER visit, a week-long hospital stay, and several consultations). She still has health insurance through her employer while on medical leave, but has spent over $1500 out of pocket so far--and it is still too early to tell how long she will be on leave from work. We anticipate that she will reach her out-of-pocket maximum for both 2018 and 2019. 

We want to ensure that Theryn isn't burdened by a lifetime of medical debt. Her other needs (transportation, meals, caregiving, and housing) are being met by a group of friends Theryn nicknamed Barbie’s Dream Team.
