Save Petey

We rescued Petey 3 weeks ago from a kill shelter in Texas. He was on the kill list for having a cold. We live on Vancouver Island and we searched for 6 months for the perfect dog for our little family. We have 3 boys Colton (12) Cayse (8) and Slade (3). When we lost our Ava, a pitbull from Georgia, 2 years ago our middle son Cayse was devastated. She slept with him every night. He still woke up crying for her so when the black Dog rescue society said they found us the perfect dog for our family we were in!!

We fell in love with him instantly. Especially Cayse. But not soon after he had started vomiting at night. We were told it was due to acid reflux and possibly changing his food, which we did. He was extremely underweight. So over the last 3 weeks we have spent every minute with him. Feeding him the best dog food both dry and raw. And it seemed to help!

All of a sudden a few days ago seemed extremely tired which wasn’t like our Petey!! The he began projectile vomiting black vomit. It was fecal matter!! We rushed him to the vet instantly. After 10 hours of waiting and 2 visits to the pet ER we learned had an obstruction that could have been there for a while. And were told costs for survey would be between $3000-$6000. We have already paid for $2000 in vet bills for diagnostics. My husband is no longer working due to Covid-19 and my income has to cover my oldest sons type one diabetes meds and supplies.

We are literally heart broken. And cannot stomach not having him with us. He has only had 3 weeks in a home and deserves a full life, he’s only 1-2 years old.
