Please help us help Dolly

Hello, I'm Millie from Lotus Lamb & Sheep Sanctuary, and I'd like to introduce you to Dolly.

Dolly, a one-year-old Dartmoor Sheep, once shared her days with a sister named Polly. Both were purchased as pets from a lovely lady in Birmingham who rented a piece of land for them just 20 minutes away from her home. Last December, their owner came to visit them at their field and discovered that the fence surrounding their field had been deliberately cut. Some sick, twisted individual had done this to lure their dog(s) onto Dolly and Polly.

The consequences were devastating. Polly's injuries were so severe that she had to be put to sleep, while Dolly, miraculously surviving, was left with life-altering injuries. Her owner and her vet tried everything they could, which was an incredible job as Dolly wouldn't be alive now if it wasn't for them. But Dolly and Polly were the ladies first pet sheep, and she could just see Dolly's condition declining so she reached out for help and we agreed to take her.

She arrived last night, Hayley has spent all day with her today and the vet came to see what could be done to ease her pain. The vet had never seen anything like it, and was horrified. They had to remove her ear that they had tried to save in Birmingham, because it started to rot underneath. The tissue in her other ear has mostly died, so the vet had to cut away the dead tissue which was horrific for her. It was a traumatic experience even with pain relief and local anesthesia. Dolly's eye has been pierced by the dog bite, and she has multiple bite wounds on her head and neck. We are determined to save her eye and she is now on a course of daily pain relief, antibiotics & eye drops 3 times a day to fight the infection that has developed.

Depending on how she heals from the horrific removal of her ears, and if her eye begins to heal, she may need to have further surgery.

Despite the immense suffering she's endured, Dolly has shown to be the sweetest and most gentle little girl. We are determined to give her the care and support she needs. However, the sanctuary's funds are strained, and we urgently need your help to fund Dolly's veterinary care.
