My best friend Alanna and her family is facing one of the most difficult experiences at this time.
On Sunday, her mother, a loving 69-year-old woman, suffered a devastating stroke. Doctors worked quickly and placed a stent in hopes of restoring blood flow, but despite their efforts, additional blood clots formed, causing further damage and swelling in her brain.
Today, she is paralyzed on the left side of her body, unable to speak, and has very little energy. She can barely open her eyes, and her condition continues to decline. She is now being transferred to hospice care, where the focus will be on keeping her comfortable and surrounded by the people who love her during the time she has left.
As they spend these precious moments with her, the family is also facing significant financial challenges.
Her mother was the primary support for her sister, who lives with disabilities that make it difficult for her to work. Without her mother, her sister is now facing uncertainty about how she will afford rent and basic living expenses while they are working to find appropriate housing and support services for her.
In addition, her family has been traveling back and forth to the hospital every day. The costs of gas, parking, meals, and time away from work are quickly adding up during an already overwhelming period.
We are asking for help to cover:
• Rent and basic living expenses for her sister during this life transition
• Transportation, gas, and hospital parking costs
• Expenses related to hospice and end-of-life care
• Other unexpected costs that arise as they navigate this difficult time
Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean so much to the family. If you are unable to contribute financially, sharing this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your kindness, support, and prayers as they spend these final days with their mother and work to ensure her sister has the stability and support she needs moving forward.
With gratitude
