Bobby Zobrist is a kind, compassionate, caring, gifted, tender hearted young man. At just 19, he's touched the lives of so many and now he needs our help as he is fighting for his life.
In late December 2018, Bobby contracted Epstein Bar Syndrome which is a severe form of mononucleosis. He was sick for a few weeks, but seemingly recovered. Then, another illness came that at first was diagnosed as the flu. He had several days of high temperature, ranging up to 105 and averaging at 104. After 3 trips to the Urgent Care and 4 trips to the ER in a span of 7 days and having a seizure while waiting in the ER, he was finally admitted to the ICU unit with pneumonia covering his left lung. He also was diagnosed with septic shock and pancreatitis. Because it was difficult to breath, he was sedated and hooked up to a ventilator to help with breathing. As his condition became worse, he was life flighted to OHSU from Willamette Valley Medical Center. His care at OHSU has been top notch with the BEST doctors!
He's been at OHSU for almost a week, still sedated. Shortly after the hospital transfer, his oxygen level dropped too low so he was set up on full life support (ECMO) to help with breathing and blood flow to his heart. It is expected that he will be on full life support for some time. The pneumonia has now spread to both lungs. His situation is critical and we are praying for a full and complete recovery. The doctors have indicated that this will be a long, slow process of regaining his health. He's expected to be in the hospital for several weeks. He is in a very critical state and his life is on the line. The doctors and staff have been amazing and we are so thankful for their help, support and expertise.
As you can imagine, this is extremely hard for his family. They are so very thankful for the MANY prayers and support that so many have kindly reached out and given. It is a blessing. There are needs though. While they do have an RV on site at the hospital that they can get some rest as needed, there are medical bills and expenses adding up. The medical bills are large in number; more than some homes of today cost.
We are asking you to please pray and consider giving a donation to help with the medical costs. If we could each give what we can, it would help relieve a need that the family has. You may want to consider giving on a weekly or monthly basis if you can. The bills are high and we really are hoping to reduce them significantly so that the family can focus on Bobby and not the bills. In addition to medical bills from two hospitals, life flight, all the doctors, specialist reports and readings, medication and more, full life support system, there is also a need for food and gas money for Bobby's family. They won't leave his side; they are fighting this with him. That said, money is needed. Please consider gifting them with this need to help take the financial burden away.
