My name is Nataša and some of you may have heard of the devastating news we received almost 11 months ago. My mom was diagnosed with incurable non-small cell stage 4 lung cancer. She is my favorite person on earth and to hear news like this has changed our lives forever. Our family has been through hell and back but we are pushing through each day and staying positive for our mom.
My mom has undergone 10 sessions of radiation to her brain the second week of finding out. She had 10 tumors in her brain and 8-9 tumors in her chest. Radiation has drastically reduced her tumors in her brain but her chest has been a different story. After her 10 sessions of radiation, she started her chemo (Keytruda) and has been on since April 2018.
We are so lucky that she is fighting, but the stress that chemo, scans, and doctor appointments have put a strain on our mental and financial state. As hard as this is to deal with our mother’s cancer, we have been struggling with keeping up with her medical bills. Insurance only covers so much and we are falling behind on a lot of her bills. Our family has a lot of pride and is very private but I can’t sit back and not try to get some help to relieve the worry my mom has EVERY DAY that we will get in so much debt because of what’s going on with her health.
Doctors told us that my mom might not have a long time to live, they shared with us that cancer like hers; people are excepted to live from 6 months to 5 years. We have already exceeded the expectations of 6 months and we are over the moon. We take each day as a privilege to be with the most amazing and strongest person ever!
As strange and uncomfortable this is to me, I am asking for anyone that can help our family relieve some of the stress we are living with every day. We have millions of emotions every day and I just want the financial burden to not be one of them.
Thank you for opening your heart to our story and if you are able to assist anyway, it will truly be appreciated.
Loving daughter,
Nataša Karić
