Our sweet rescue cat, Louie, is an 11-year-old boy with a heart full of love and a spirit that has brightened our home since the day we brought him in. When we adopted him, we knew he had pre-existing glaucoma, but we were assured that although his vision was limited, his condition was stable and unlikely to progress.
Sadly, that hasn’t been the case.
Over the past months, Louie’s glaucoma has worsened significantly. His eye has filled with fluid, causing painful swelling that now prevents his eyelid from closing properly. This has begun to seriously affect his comfort, his daily life, and his ability to simply enjoy being the gentle, affectionate cat he is. We’ve been told that his eye must be removed as soon as possible to relieve his pain and prevent further suffering.
The cost of Louie’s eye removal surgery is £1,700, an amount we simply cannot cover on our own—especially since this is a pre-existing condition and no insurance will help.
It breaks my heart to reach out for help, but Louie means the world to us. I’m not ready to say goodbye to him—not when there is a clear path to ease his pain and give him more happy, healthy years. We’ve only had the privilege of loving him for a year, and it’s nowhere near enough time.
If you are able to help in any way—whether through donating or simply sharing Louie’s story—we would be incredibly grateful. Every contribution brings us one step closer to giving him the relief and comfort he desperately needs.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for helping us help Louie. ❤️
