In Memory of Peter Phillips

Dear Friends of Peter,
As you undoubtedly know, Peter Phillips tragically passed away at 53 years of age on September 19. He was an essential part of the Apawamis experience for those who had the pleasure of playing a round of golf with Peter on our bag. Good humor and a love for the game was only part of what made Peter so special for so many of us, in addition to his uncanny ability to read every green. I think we all got to know Peter on a personal level, so much so that a round with Peter made the day with your friends even more enjoyable. We will all miss him very much and forever associate him with the things we know and love about Apawamis. Peter was a caddie at Apawamis for 30 years. He also has two cousins and an uncle that are long-time caddies and two children who have worked at Apawamis in the past. Remarkably, Peter and his extended family combined have over 100 years of service at Apawamis.
Peter will be sorely missed by each of us, of course, but not nearly as much as his surviving spouse, Vivieta, and his children and grandchildren. Some of us have recently had the opportunity to spend some time with them and we have marveled at what a strong and balanced family they are in the face of this devastating news. They were thrilled to welcome Apawamis members into their home immediately after news of his untimely death became public. Those of us who had the opportunity to meet them came away extremely impressed with their great character. Peter clearly left a strong legacy in his wife and children and we were grateful to be received so warmly.
Vivieta is extremely grateful for the donations shared with her to-date. We thank each of you who have taken the time to help her out in this moment of need. In fact, cash has already been used to help with the funeral and other near-term expenses, which could not have happened without your donations. We appreciate that generosity very much. It’s another important example of how the Apawamis community proudly takes care of their own.
I am writing to you today to tell you that a group of members has been meeting and speaking about continuing to help Peter’s wife manage her finances without Peter. We all can help fill in now that Peter is no longer around contributing to their financial well-being. Many of you have reached out to us asking how you can help - here is your opportunity. Thank you in advance for your contributions.
Kind Regards,
Committee for Assistance to the Family of Peter Phillips
