My name is Lisa Nordby and in
September 2013, my husband Greg Dorenkamp was hospitalized with an abscessed
abdomen that also had traveled into his leg.
He was also diagnosed with colon cancer.
I wish I did not have to make this appeal to help save Greg's life but
as Greg's doctor said, "this is a matter of life and death".
Greg was unable to undergo chemotherapy and radiation until the abscess and infection was treated. He was in the hospital and rehab for over 3 months treating the infection.
He must now undergo the cancer treatment. Greg is the sole support of me and our son Thomas. Due to the economy we have had no health insurance for the past few years. All of our assets and savings have been depleted. Thomas is an epileptic and has multiple seizures a month. Leaving Thomas alone is dangerous for Thomas and just not an option.
We must come up with $10,000 for chemotherapy and radiation as soon as possible. Then there will be surgery and follow up medical care. Additionally, the loss of income and the medical expense are enormous and will only continue to pile up. Because of Greg's long hospitalization, his legs developed muscle atrophy and he needs therapy to be able to regain his ability to stand and walk.
The doctor remains somewhat optimistic about Greg's recovery but is concerned about any further delays in starting the chemotherapy and radiation treatment.
